Sales are exciting and getting new things is kind of a blessing but it’s time to rethink our consumption habits…Did you know that:
- Fast and cheap fashion is changing the way we think about clothes, we buy more for less and we think that it’s a great way to make fashion available for all pockets, when in reality it’s only making us poorer. We buy so many things but we have to throw away garments after few uses.
- “Today’s trends are tomorrow’s trash” remember this thing called planet earth? It’s not everlasting nor immune and we are really damaging it. Resources are depleting and greenhouse and toxic gases are just too much to handle.
- Recycling is a myth. 85% of fast fashion ends up in landfills. I’m sorry because you probably (just as me) feel great whenever you donate your clothes (the ones that don’t fit anymore or don’t like for whatever reason) but most of the time there’s just too many clothes and stuff and it is sent to a landfill, so no one really uses it.
If all this arguments don’t convince you, think also about the poor conditions fast fashion industry workers have to deal with, plus how poorly both workers (in other countries) and salespeople here in our country are getting paid.
Believe me or not this is a sad reality and THE TRUE COST is such a great documentary to watch and learn more about the topic.

Las rebajas, y más si son tan especiales y convenientes como el Black Friday, son algo que nos llama la atención (y nos puede llegar a emocionar) a la gran mayoría pero… ¿hemos pensado en nuestros hábitos de consumo?
Sabías que:
- El fast fashion está cambiando la manera en la que pensamos en la ropa, compramos más por menos y pensamos que esa es una gran manera de hacer la moda disponible para todos los bolsillos, cuando en realidad sólo nos empobrece. Compramos muchas cosas pero… ¿cuantas tenemos que tirar al cabo de unos pocos usos?
- Las tendencias de hoy son la basura del mañana. La sobreproducción de ropa sólo tiene un efecto: nos estamos cargando el planeta. Los gases de efecto invernadero además de los tóxicos y la mierda literal que se genera es insostenible para la Tierra.
- Reciclar es un mito. El 85% de la ropa fast fashion que compramos acaba en vertederos. (y no lo digo yo, lo dice greenpeace) Sienta mal leerlo porque todos pensamos que cuando ponemos nuestra ropa a dar, esta va a ir para alguien que la use, pero la cruda realidad es que hay DEMASIADA ropa y más de la mitad va a parar a vertederos, convirtiéndose en inútil.
Si todos estos puntos no te convencen, piensa también en las condiciones que los fabricantes de estas piezas de ropa sufren, lo poco que les pagan y lo poco que les pagan también a los vendedores en tienda de aquí.
